Korean participants in the 2004 training program conducted by DSI attending a two-day session at the California ISO as part of the overall program.
For the second year in a row the Korean Power Exchange has selected DSI to organize and conduct a full one-month training program for 30 engineers, dispatchers, traders and analysts from across all the utilities in the Korean power market. The Korean power system has about 50,000 MW of generation and an impressive transmission system, and is undergoing a major transition into full market-based system.
The training program consists of joint sessions conducted by DSI experts, invited speakers and invited organizations such as EPRI, CA-ISO and PJM-RTO. The remaining sessions are in two tracks: EMS and Market Tracks. Some of the topics covered include:
Control center design and functions under deregulation, transmission issues, risk and asset management, hands-on dispatcher training for emergencies using the generic EPRI-OTS, hands-on marketer and analyst training on bidding strategies and market monitoring using the EPRI/DSI STEMS (Short-Term Electricity Market Simulator), wide-area protection and control using hi-speed phasor measurements, design and implementation of the EPRI Common Information Model/Generic Interface Definition (CIM/GID), status of energy planning, trading and deregulation in Europe, advances in distribution management systems and more ..
